Cyclone Hudhud makes landfall in Visakhapatnam

Cyclone Hudhud over VIsakhapatnamCyclone Hudhud has finally made landfall in Visakhapatnam. Currently, the eye of the storm is crossing the coastal city of Andhra Pradesh. Maximum sustained winds at the time of crossing was between 170 and 180 kmph, gusting to 195 kmph.

The city is currently witnessing clear weather conditions as the eye of cyclone Hudhud is passing through the city. However, it will be followed by heavy rainfall accompanied with strong winds in another 30-40 minutes when the rear part of the cyclonic storm enters the city.

Meanwhile, northern and southern areas of the city are experiencing heavy to very heavy rainfall along with very strong winds ranging between 150 and 170 kmph.

The cyclone is maintaining an intensity of a very severe cyclonic storm, making conditions critical. However, it will gradually weaken into a cyclonic storm within six hours of making landfall.
