Cyclone Jawad loses steam, weakens into a deep depression

Cyclone Jawad has weakened into a deep depression and today on December 5th at 5:30 it was near latitude 18.2 North and longitude 85.4 East over Northwest and adjoining West Central Bay of Bengal. It will degenerate further into a depression by today afternoon and will reach near Puri.

This weather system will continue its journey in northeast direction towards Gangetic West Bengal and South Bangladesh. The system may reach south Bangladesh and adjoining area as a well-marked low pressure by the morning of December 6.

Light to moderate rain a with isolated heavy spells are expected to occur over coastal districts of Odisha as well as over Gangetic West Bengal on December 5th. By December 6th, its impact will start reducing significantly over Gangetic West Bengal and Odisha.

Northeastern states of Manipur, Mizoram and Tripura may receive light to moderate rain with isolated heavy spell between December 5th and evening of December 6th.

Sea conditions will remain rough to very rough over Orissa coast on December 5th and over West Bengal and Bangladesh coast on December 5th and 6th. As the weather system has weakened therefore, we do not expect wind speed to cross 100 Kmph. Wind speed may be in the range of 50 to 60 kmph and may reach in gust up to 70 kmph.
