Day And Night Mercury Rise Likely For Delhi: Dry Weather Conditions To Prevail
Mar 5, 2025, 12:26 PM | Skymet Weather TeamDelhi has been observing large fluctuations in day and night temperatures over the last one week. Earlier, the day temperature had climbed to the season’s high of 32.4°C on 26th Feb 2025, but only to retract the very next day to 25°C on 27th Feb. On the same lines, the minimum temperature had risen to 19.5°C on 27th Feb, an all-time high in the last 74 years and plunged to 9.6°C on 03rd March 2025. Both day and night temperatures are slated to rise very soon. Weather conditions for the national capital are likely to remain dry over the next about one week.
The base station at Safdarjung recorded a day maximum of 27.5°C yesterday and a minimum temperature of 11.8°C this morning. The day temperature is likely to drop significantly today, on account of strong surface winds. Strong winds mitigate the heat factor and therefore, the maximum today may just reach around 25°C. The prevalence of strong winds over the next two more days will keep the mercury suppressed.
A western disturbance is likely to arrive on 09th March over North India. However, its impact will remain confined to the mountains and, at best, the foothills of Punjab. The weather system will have its influence over the hills between 09th and 11th March. Another western disturbance, nearly overlapping the exit of the previous one, will approach on 12th Mar and stay put till 15th Mar 2025. This system will have a little bigger spread of weather. These back-to-back weather systems will alter the temperature profile over Delhi and the neighbourhood. As such, the winds will slow down significantly.
The maximum temperature is likely to rise to about 30°C between 08th and 10th March. The mercury is expected to rise further next week. The capital city may record the highest temperature of this season in excess of 32°C, between the 11th and 13th of March. The minimum temperatures will also rise with effect from tomorrow itself. Mercury may have a minimum of 15°C on the approaching weekend and rise further, to be in the high teens during the next week. No rainfall is likely over the next week. A twist in the weather conditions, though a little early to say, will happen around the festival of Holi.
