Day temperatures are likely to increase in North India in the next two days as Punjab, Haryana, Delhi, Rajasthan, Uttar Pradesh and Bihar are likely to observe clear skies due to the eastward movement of the Western Disturbance over Jammu & Kashmir. Due to thin cover of fog during morning hours, maximums at many places could rise and record above normal for the next two days. However, the cool northerly to northwesterly winds will maintain the chill a little, making the weather pleasant.
Cold day conditions had gripped the region for the last couple of weeks, forcing the media to declare January, 2014 as the third coldest in Delhi since 1947. However, our meteorologists state that the remaining days in January may witness good sunshine due to clear skies and relatively longer day time. As a result the day temperatures could rise and record close to the month's average of 20.8°C . The average maximum temperature in January till now has been recorded at 18.22°C
Meanwhile, the below normal day temperatures that are being witnessed in East India over Uttar Pradesh and Bihar will also rise as sky will become clear. The region had witness rain and cloud cover due to a remnant of the Western Disturbance in the Western Himalayan region. But as the weather system has moved out, the sky will become clear.
The weather in the hills of Jammu & Kashmir, Himachal Pradesh and Uttarakhand has also become cold and dry. The above normal night temperatures are maintaining due to partly cloudy to cloudy skies. But a fall in night temperature is expected as soon as the clouds clear.
