Generally, winters are marked with the formation of thick and dense fog which has remained absent uptill now. The parts of Punjab and Haryana have just seen mist or haze formation. However, with these rains, the plains of North India will witness formation of fog absent untill now.

Skymet Weather states that these widespread rains will bring in foggy winter, as these rains will leave a lot of moisture in the atmosphere. In addition to this, the humidity level will also be high. Furthermore, there will be drop in temperature and light wind conditions will prevail.

All these weather phenomena are the necessary prerequisites for fog formation, which will eventually take place after the appearance of these aforementioned rainy spells.
