After staying dry for nearly two weeks, Delhi received light rainfall in the past 24 hours. Rainfall occurred in the wee hours today. Most pockets, like Palam, Ayanagar and Ridge, received just trace rainfall. The base station at Safdarjung was a shade better with 0.5 mm. The last rainfall of 0.5 mm was recorded at Safdarjung on 22nd Jan 2025. Overnight clouding resulted in a rise in night temperatures. Safdarjung registered a minimum temperature of 12.8°C, about 5°C above the normal and also the highest in the last about one month or so. The drop in morning temperature is likely around midweek.

Western disturbance is still moving across the mountains. The induced cyclonic circulation has moved eastward and now lies over West Uttar Pradesh and the foothills of Uttarakhand. The associated clouding has also moved along. Under the combined influence of these systems, light rainfall occurred over Delhi, East Rajasthan, West Uttar Pradesh, foothills of Uttarakhand.

Delhi will not have any more rainfall today. The clouding also will reduce, making way for a fair amount of sunshine. Day temperature is likely to get arrested at around 24°C. The minimum temperature will take a dip over the next 3-4 days and drop to single digits (8°-9°C) between 06th and 08th Feb. Courtesy another weather system in the proximity of the capital city, the mercury will rise again early next week. During the interim period, shallow to moderate fog in some areas and mild chill in the morning will be the highlights. No rain is likely over Delhi/NCR for the next about one week.
