Delhi Dust Storm

During the last 24 hours, dry weather continued to prevail in Delhi-NCR along with strong winds. Heat wave conditions were also observed in some places like Palam where the day temperature settled at a sizzling 45.2°C. The Safdarjung Observatory also saw the maximum peak to record 43.7°C. Even the night temperature remained slightly warm as the minimum settled between 28-29°C.

In terms of weather systems, a fresh Western Disturbance is likely to approach North Pakistan today. While a Cyclonic Circulation is over Central Pakistan and adjoining Punjab. A Trough is also expected to form North of Delhi in the next 24 hours.

Today, strong warm winds are likely to prevail in the region during afternoon hours. There is a possibility of light dust storm activity towards late evening and night in some parts of Delhi and NCR area.

Due to the above mentioned systems, clouding is likely to increase over many parts of Northwest Plains and Delhi-NCR by tomorrow. Few short spells of rain and thundershower activities are expected over many parts of the city, which will help in pulling down the temperatures by a good 5 to 6 degree Celsius. This will definitely make the weather conditions comfortable towards the evening and late night. Isolated dust storm may also be observed just before the rains begin. Wind speed may reach 40-45 kmph on gust during the activity.

The day temperature in Safdarjung and Palam today may hover around 43°C, which can be said to be a very marginal drop.

Pollution levels will remain slightly moderate but will improve tomorrow evening onward.
