Dust storm and rain in Delhi and NCR

After a week of pleasant weather, Delhi had been observing severe heat with day temperature scaling new heights for the last two days. On May 20, the Palam observatory had saw the maximum cross the 40-degree Celsius mark. While yesterday, the same observatory saw the day temp settle above 42 degrees Celsius.

However, now Delhiites are up for some relief as meteorologists forecast a considerable drop in temperatures as Delhi and NCR area gears up for some fresh weather activity yet again. A Western Disturbance is soon to approach Jammu and Kashmir, while an induced Cyclonic Circulation will be seen in Rajasthan.

Parts of Delhi-NCR already received some mild dust storm activity yesterday. As the trough was south of Delhi, these dust storms majorly affected places like Faridabad, Palwal and adjoining areas. Also, to a relief, the weather of Delhi became somewhat pleasant during the evening hours.

Now, we expect rain and thundershower activity accompanied with dust storm over isolated pockets of Delhi and NCR to occur today and tomorrow. Therefore, both day and night temperatures are expected to reduce. Maximums may come down below the 40-degree mark over the next few days, leading to some comfort from ongoing hot and uneasy weather.

Wind speed of dust storm may reach 30-40 kmph gusting to  50 kmph in some parts. However, as the intensity of dust storm will not be severe therefore, we do not expect any damage to life and property in the region.
