Severe Delhi Pollution has made a comeback again. Hazy mornings, unbreathable air and soaring air quality index appeared once again over Delhi and the NCR region today. What used to be a misty and hazy morning usually has now transformed into a smoggy morning where you can hardly see a man standing ten feet from you or breathe even decent quality air.

The pollution levels have been on a severe high this morning with air quality deteriorating to severe. So much so that in some parts of the national capital. AQI levels have come even surpassed the 490-mark. Not only this, as per the data provided by AirVeda, the PM 10 levels have reached to a whopping 1200 in Punjabi Bagh.
In fact, as per data given by several reports, the Air Quality in Gurugram read a massive 1000 during a time which has raised the concern levels across the city.
PM 2.5 levels also remain at a massive high in the entire national capital. Thus, the Pollution levels in Delhi and the NCR region have gone beyond being severe. So much so that the Indian Medical Association (IMA) has declared a state of health emergency in the entire city and the NCR.
Not only this, the IMA has also asked to make sure that schools remain closed across the national capital and the NCR region. People should also avoid stepping out during this period.
These conditions have been attributed to the presence of northwesterly winds which have been blowing across the region. These winds have also been carrying the pollutants from stubble burning across Punjab and Haryana up to Delhi and NCR region, High humidity levels, light winds, low temperatures resulted in the formation of fog.
The persisting smoke haze in the region while interacting with the fog converted into smog and have been causing chaos across the city. These weather conditions are expected to remain the same, thus no respite from soaring pollution levels are expected. In fact, these conditions will only see any improvement only when the wind pattern changes and speed increases which is only expected after a few more days.
Till then, Delhiites will continue to choke on polluted air and wait for the government to take some steps to curb the sky high pollution levels.
