Delhi Pollution

In the past 24 hours, the minimums and maximums in and around Delhi were 5°C and 21°C, respectively. At present the south-westerlies are blowing over the region, thus, both day and night temperatures would see a rise. There’s a possibility that in next 24 hours, the wind direction will be changed to south-easterlies. These winds would be calm in nature; thus, the mercury would rise by 2°C-4°C.

As per Skymet Weather, on January 31 and February 1, the minimums in Delhi would hover around 9°C and maximums could settle between 22-23°C. The moment Western Disturbance would start shifting eastward, winds from the North would once again start blowing over the plains which might bring down the minimums in and around 7-8°C. However, between February 4 and 7, there’s a possibility that the mercury would once again go up and minimums might settle around 10°C. Another fresh Western Disturbance would approach the hills of North India by January 4. With this, the forecasters have predicted that on January 5, Delhi might witness few spells of thundershowers.

As per Skymet Weather, this weather system would gradually shift eastward and would once again pave way for cold and dry northerly winds around January 7. The national capital territory, Delhi along with its adjoining areas like Ghaziabad, Faridabad and Gurugram  would be under the grip of Cold Wave like conditions and the minimums might hover in and around 7°C.

Amidst this, the pollution levels in Delhi have once again gone up. Many places are under ‘very poor’ zone. The Air Quality Index at present has crossed the mark of 300. In the coming two to three days, Delhi pollution might just touch upon the ‘severe’ zone as well.
