Delhi rains to return by today afternoon, typical Monsoon showers likely between Sept 3 and 5

Rain in Delhi

The axis of Monsoon Trough is gradually shifting northwards and would remain in the vicinity of Delhi for the next few days. In the wake of this movement, patchy rain and thundershower activities would commence in Delhi and its adjoining area today afternoon onward.

By tomorrow, the intensity would increase and on and off Monsoon showers would appear over the region. These activities would continue until September 6, with increased intensity between September 3 and 5. These days may observe typical Monsoon rains, moderate to heavy in intensity in some parts.

In addition to the axis of Monsoon Trough, a Cyclonic Circulation would form over West Uttar Pradesh, most probably around September 1. And whenever two weather systems combine, the result is enhanced rainfall activity.

Overall, we can say that the next week is going to be a rainy one for Delhi and NCR area. The showers would also pull down the soaring temperatures and make the weather pleasant and comfortable.

Delhi and its adjoining areas have remained deprived of good Monsoon rains for the last many days now. The region has been reeling under almost dry weather conditions with on and off patchy rains since August 17.

In the absence of ‘Monsoon feels’, the discomfort has also increased much with temperatures settling above normal by 4 degrees Celcius. However, the upcoming rains may ease this situation and change the weather scenario.
