Hot weather in DelhiSignificant rise in mercury has marked the arrival of Summers in full swing over Delhi-NCR. Day temperatures which were hovering around 27°C in mid-March have increased by 10 degrees now. Similarly, night temperatures which were around 14°C or 15°C is now settling beyond 20°C.

On Thursday, the national capital recorded day maximum at 37.4°C, which was seven notches above the average. Minimum temperatures settled at 20.9°C that was four degrees above normal.

In fact, this is the highest day maximum recorded since 2011. Prior to this, maximum temperatures had reached to 39.2°C on March 22, 2010.

Moreover, we do not expect any respite in the next few days as mercury is likely to increase even further. Weathermen predict day temperatures may reach 40-degree mark by the end of the month.

According to Skymet Weather, till now, back to back active Western Disturbances had been giving snowfall over the hilly states of North India that in turn had kept the weather pleasant over entire northwestern plains.

However, as we progress towards the end of March, these systems become weak in nature and thus does not impact the weather over the plains including Delhi-NCR. Now, warm winds from Central Pakistan have been blowing across the region, which has increased the day temperatures.
