Despite excess rains in Gujarat, Ahmedabad and Gandhinagar remain rain deficit

The state of Gujarat has emerged from drought like conditions to almost excess rains in pockets. The last two to three days have been rainy enough for the state and the deficient figures have become positive. However, Gujarat has been one region which has been away from the fury of heavy rains.

This happens to be the rainiest month for Ahmedabad and Gandhinagar wherein the former records 291 mm of rainfall and until now, only 80 mm of rains have been witnessed. Meanwhile, Gandhinagar this month has only observed 48 mm of rainfall resulting in deficit rains over both these areas.

In the last 24 hours from 8:30 am on Wednesday, Ahmedabad recorded a mere 0.8 mm of rains. Meanwhile, Gandhinagar remained dry during this period. However, heavy rains were recorded over the cities of Veraval, Vadodara, Porbandar, Valsad and adjoining areas.

Now, as per weathermen at Skymet Weather, in the next coming two days also, only light rainfall activity is expected to occur. One or two moderate spells of rains may also occur over some parts of Ahmedabad and Gandhinagar.

Thereafter, weather will become dry over both these cities and temperatures may also witness an increase over these cities.
