Since the beginning of October, northwestern plains of the country i.e. Punjab, Haryana, Delhi, West Uttar Pradesh and North Rajasthan are experiencing dry weather conditions. However, on October 9 and 10, scattered rain and thundershower activities with isolated hailstorm occurred over northern parts of Punjab, Haryana as well as Northwest Uttar Pradesh.
Due to these weather activities, the minimum temperatures across northwestern plains dropped significantly by four to six degrees on October 11. Since then, the minimums are below normal over most parts of Northwest India including Delhi-NCR region.
Due to this, nip in the atmosphere has also been witnessed. Moreover, mornings and nights have become comparatively cooler. Meanwhile, day temperatures are still settling between 32 to 34 degrees. Thus, we can clearly see that the variation between the minimums and maximums, which is known as the diurnal variation, is very high.
Further also, we expect no significant weather system to approach the northwestern plains. Therefore, we can say that the weather conditions will remain dry for the next 3 to 4 days as well.
As we all know that, the kharif crop is being harvested and preparations are on for Rabi crop. This has led to widespread stubble burning across the states of Punjab, Haryana and part of Uttar Pradesh. Due to this, pollution levels have already increased and further also we expect more increase.
