Extremely heavy Monsoon rains batter Satna, records 270 mm

July 7, 2016 7:44 AM |

Rain in Madhya PradeshMonsoon continues to be vigorous over parts of Central India, especially over Madhya Pradesh.

In wake of this, Satna is one city of the state that has been recording extremely heavy rains for the last two days.

In span of 20 hours from 8:30 am on Wednesday, Satna has recorded 270 mm of rainfall. On Tuesday also, the city had received 131 mm of rain. With this, the city has already recorded whopping 460 mm of rain in first seven days of the month itself.

According to Skymet Weather, the depression prevailing over Northeast Madhya Pradesh, particularly very close to Satna, has kept the Monsoon current active over state. It is a slow moving system and thus, we expect it to continue affecting the region for next 24 to 48 hours as well, thereafter weakening and moving away.

Under this influence, good rains will continue over entire Madhya Pradesh including Satna but it may not be as heavy as during last 24 hours. July had commenced on a rainy note for Satna and the city has been recording rains of varying intensity everyday. We foresee similar weather conditions to continue for next few days as well.
