Cyclone Gaja brought with itself widespread rains over the state of Kerala. However, during the last 24 hours, dry and warm weather prevailed over the entire state of Kerala. The maximum temperatures remained between 32°C and 34°C, while minimum temperatures were recorded between 22 and 25°C.

Presently, an Upper Air Trough is persisting along Western Coast and is extending from Kerala coast to Konkan coast. Due to the presence of this system weather is expected to remain warm and humid with cloudy sky conditions. Light to moderate rain is also expected at some places over the state. Thereafter, during the next 48 hours, a fresh weather system which is presently over Southern parts of Bay of Bengal will affect Kerala between November 21 and 22, in the form of moderate rain. In presence of rains, temperatures may decrease slightly over the entire state. In terms of rain, the month began on a good note for Kerala as the first three days of November saw good rainfall activity over the entire state. However, since then, the weather conditions in Kerala have been almost dry before the ‘Gaja’ has struck. Even after the rains induced by Gaja, Kerala is still rain deficient by 8% as of now. These upcoming rains are sure to bring slight relief in the days to come.
