Fresh spell of rain expected in Vidarbha and Telangana

August 9, 2015 2:00 PM |

Rain in TelanganaAfter observing rainfall surplus of 52% in the month of June, July proved to be poor for Vidarbha. Though on and off rainfall was observed during July as well, it was not sufficient to maintain the surplus. But with the start of August the region again started to observe good rain. The deficiency which was 18% in July came down to 9% by August 8.

According to Skymet, the region is expected to receive more rain for the next 2 to 3 days. The cyclonic circulation over westcentral Bay of Bengal will gain strength and enter the mainland, enhancing the rainfall activity over coastal Andhra Pradesh, Telangana and Vidarbha.

Meanwhile, many places in the region have recorded good amounts of rain in a span of 24 hours from 8:30 am on Saturday. For instance, Chandrapur has observed 49 mm of rain, while Akola and Buldana have witnessed 12 mm and 8 mm of rain, respectively.

Rain in Telangana

The weather in Telangana has also panned out almost similar to that of Vidarbha. June was a good Monsoon month for both the regions, while July saw a dip in rainfall amounts to pick up again in August.

So far (Till August 8) rainfall in Telangana continues to be deficient by 27%. However, the same weather system in the westcentral Bay of Bengal is going to give good amounts of rain in the region in next 2 to 3 days. This spell of rain is likely to pull down the deficiency to some extent.
