Monsoon rains 2018 in Jammu-and-Kashmir

A feeble Western Disturbance is expected to approach the hills of North India by March 28. In the wake of this weather system, isolated rain and thundershower activities will commence over Jammu and Kashmir.

By March 29, the intensity and spread of the weather activity will increase, and parts of Himachal Pradesh will start experiencing rain and thundershowers. On March 29 itself, light snowfall activity is also expected over Jammu and Kashmir.

During this period, we expect the northwestern plains especially the northern parts of Punjab to get effected in the form of isolated rains.

By March 30, this spell will become more widespread with many parts of Jammu and Kashmir and Himachal Pradesh witnessing rain along with light snowfall over the higher reaches.

Meanwhile, Uttarakhand will remain almost dry with one or two spells of light rain in some parts.

During this period I.e. around March 30, the plains of Northwest India will also witness weather activity. Parts of North Punjab, North Haryana and isolated pockets of West Rajasthan will receive isolated rain and thundershower.

Minimum temperatures in the region will increase as the winds will change direction and start blowing from the southeast direction.

By April 1, the Western Disturbance will start moving away from the hills and the weather will become dry over the Western Himalayas as well as the plains of North India.
