Fresh spell of rain to lash Chhattisgarh, Madhya Pradesh, relief from winter chill as minimum to rise

February 1, 2020 8:59 AM |

Madhya Pradesh and Chhattisgarh

Unseasonal rain has been lashing many parts of Madhya Pradesh and Chhattisgarh for the past few days. However, the weather has now cleared in the duo states of Madhya Pradesh and Chhattisgarh.

At present, the cold winds from the Western Himalayas are blowing across these states following which the minimum and maximum temperatures have dropped by 4-5 degrees Celsius. While isolated pockets have witnessed a drop of about 3-7 degrees Celsius in the day and night temperatures.

According to the weather models, we expect another spell of rain and thundershower in the eastern and central parts of Madhya Pradesh as well as Chhattisgarh in the next 24 to 48 hours.

The reason for these rains can be attributed to the formation of a confluence zone over East Madhya Pradesh and Chhattisgarh. Also, the southeasterly humid winds from the Bay of Bengal will meet dry and cold north westerlies due to which both the states will observe rainfall activities and cloudy skies. Meanwhile, thunderstorm activities cannot be ruled out in parts of Chhattisgarh.

These weather activities will continue until February 4. During this period, intensity will be more in Chhattisgarh as compared to the eastern parts of Madhya Pradesh.

The drop in the temperatures will get arrested due to the formation of a confluence zone by February 3. The minimums will also rise by 2-3 degrees Celsius.

By February 5, the cold north westerlies will once again cover entire Madhya Pradesh and Chhattisgarh. But, the weather is expected to clear from both the states.
