After giving a brief break to Maharashtra, Monsoon rains, as reiterated by Skymet Weather revived once again over many parts of the state. The last 24 hours proved to be rainy for several districts of Maharashtra.

While, moderate to heavy rains occurred over South Konkan & Goa, South Madhya Maharashtra, and Marathwada region, the Vidarbha region had to manage with light to moderate rains. On the contrary, the weather of North Konkan & Goa and North Madhya Maharashtra remained dry.

Within the span of 24 hours from 08:30 am as on Thursday, Harnai recorded the most 82 mm of rains, Beed 80.4 mm, Satara 67.4 mm, Sangli 53 mm, Bijapur 51.4 mm, Yeotmal 27 mm, Bhira 27 mm, and Pune witnessed 22 mm of rains. Though both the observatories of Mumbai failed to record any rains during the last 24 hours.

The reason for these good rains over the state of Maharashtra can be associated with two weather systems. One is a North-South trough which was running from North Chhattisgarh to South Tamil Nadu across Telangana and adjoining Vidarbha region in Maharashtra. Another is a cyclonic circulation which is over South Konkan & Goa and adjoining Karnataka.

As per Skymet Weather, as of now, rains are likely to increase over Konkan & Goa and Madhya Maharashtra as the cyclonic circulation is expected to move inland over South Konkan & Goa and adjoining regions.

In the wake of this, moderate rains are likely at many places over Maharashtra with one or two heavy spells over Pune, Nashik, Ratnagiri, Harnai, and Mahabaleshwar. Moreover, districts such as Sangli, Satara, Sholapur, and Ahmednagar may also receive good rains. While Marathwada and Vidarbha will have to manage with light to moderate rains.

After 24 hours, as the cyclonic circulation is likely to become insignificant, rains are also expected to reduce though scattered light rains with one or two moderate spells will continue over many parts of the state for another 2-3 days.
