Good rains in offing for Surat, Valsad, Vadodara; Ahmedabad, Dwarka, Bhuj to remain dry

The state of Gujarat has been witnessing various shades of weather conditions during the past few days. While some regions have recorded good rains, other areas have remained dry. In fact, during the last 24 hours also, weather conditions were similar wherein a few southern districts witnessed moderate to heavy rains while other parts including Ahmedabad as well as Rajkot remained dry.

During the last 24 hours from 8:30 am on Thursday, Mahuva witnessed a whopping 40 mm of rainfall while Deesa recorded 20 mm of rains. Along with this, Bhavnagar witnessed 17 mm of rain and traces of rains were seen in Surat.

These weather conditions have been attributed to the cyclonic circulation which is over Southeast Rajasthan and adjoining West Madhya Pradesh. Also, an east-west trough is extending from this system up to Southeast Arabian Sea across Gujarat. Therefore, we expect light to moderate rains with one or two heavy spells to continue over southern parts of Gujarat.

Thus, cities including Amreli, Valsad, Bhavnagar, Surat, Mahuva, Veeraval, and Vododara will witness good rains in the next 24 hours. Not only this, light rains may also occur over some parts of Rajkot.

However, weather of Kutch is expected to remain dry. Thus, places including Vanaskantha, Bhuj, Nalia, Idar, Dwarka, and Jamnagar are expected to remain dry. Rains in Ahmedabad also seem to be highly unlikely.
