Good rains in Telangana to commence after 48 hours

June 18, 2019 5:59 PM |

Rain in Telangana and Andhra Pradesh

As of June 17, the state of Telangana is rain deficient by 60 percent. But during the first week of June, many parts of Telangana received good rains and the deficiency for the period was only 11%.

However, entire interior south peninsula including Telangana have once again become dry due to the formation of Cyclone Vayu. Although isolated rains occurred during the last 24 hours, the intensity was very less.

From June 20, scattered light to moderate rain is expected. The intensity of rains will increase between June 23 and June 25. During this period, we expect one or two heavy spells of rain in parts of Telangana.

These increased rains will be due to the formation of a low-pressure area over the Bay of Bengal off Andhra Pradesh Coast. Due to this low -pressure area, humid winds from the Bay of Bengal will increase moisture over Telangana.

Southwest Monsoon is still eluding Telangana. The normal onset date is June 5, over the southern districts of the state and by June 10 entire Telangana is covered by Monsoon rains.

During the next three to four days, Monsoon is expected to reach some parts of Telangana. Thus, we can say that by the end of this month, the rainfall deficiency in Telangana will come down to some extent.
