Good rains lash many parts of MaharashtraSouthwest Monsoon made a delayed onset over Maharashtra. However, rains did pick up pace as soon as Monsoon knocked doors of the state. In fact, some parts of Maharashtra particularly the Konkan region has been receiving good rains for quite some time now.

Other areas of Maharashtra including Marathwada, Vidarbha and a few parts of Madhya Maharashtra have also been recording good rains for the past two to three days. So much so that currently, the state of Maharashtra as a whole is observing a rain surplus of 21 percent.

During the last 24 hours from 8:30 am on Sunday, Mahabaleshwar recorded a whopping 231 mm of rainfall followed by Nashik where 160 mm of rainfall was received. Other areas to have received good rains include Kolhapur 105 mm, Bhira 100 mm, Aurangabad 97.7 mm, Jalgaon 97 mm and Akola 84.3 mm of rain.

Currently, Madhya Maharashtra is the only deficit sub division of the state of Maharashtra. The region is currently observing a rain deficiency of 3 percent. However, this spell of rain may help in reducing the deficiency to at least some extent.

Now, during the next 24 to 48 hours, light to moderate rains will continue over many parts of the state. However, the rainfall intensity is expected to reduce thereafter.
