Good rains to continue over South Andaman and Nicobar Islands

Currently, rainfall activity has remained on the backseat over the entire country. So much so that even the hills of North India which witness some rain and snow during this period have remained dry due to absence of a Western Disturbance over the Western Himalayan region. During the last 24 hours, the entire Indian mainland region has remained rain free.

Meanwhile, there has been some ongoing weather activity over the southern parts of Andaman and Nicobar Islands. In fact, this region of the islands has witnessed some moderate rains with isolated heavy showers as well.

During the last 24 hours from 8:30 am on Saturday, Nancowry recorded a whopping 51 mm of rains while Car Nicobar saw 21 mm of rains.

These rainfall activities are attributed to the cyclonic circulation which is currently persisting over Malay Peninsula and adjoining South Andaman Sea.

Now, as per weathermen at Skymet Weather, moderate to heavy rains are expected to continue over the southern regions of the Islands. Meanwhile, the northern parts of the Andaman and Nicobar Islands will remain dry as the cyclonic circulation will not affect the region. These rainfall activities are expected to continue for at least 24 to 48 hours.
