Rain in Kerala

The coastal districts of Kerala witnessed good rains during the period of Southwest Monsoon in the month of September. On the other hand, the interior districts of Kerala witnessed scattered rains.

In particular, the last month ended on a rainier note than compared to the month of August for the entire state. As of now also, light to moderate rain and thundershower activities have been occurring in several places over Kerala.

Plus, comfortable weather conditions have been prevailing over the entire South Peninsular India. Whereas, the North and Central India have been experiencing dry and warm weather conditions.

In a span of last 24 hours from 8:30 am on Thursday, Thiruvananthapuram recorded moderate rainfall of 44 mm, followed by Alappuzha 42 mm, Kochi 26 mm, Punalur 20 mm and Kottayam 18 mm.

These weather conditions can be attributed to the cyclonic circulation which is seen persisting over Coastal Kerala and the east-central Arabian Sea. Further, this system is likely to move towards North.

Hence, due to the movement of the weather system, light to moderate rain and thundershower activities are likely to continue in several places over Kerala during the next 24 hours. Districts such as Kochi, Kottayam, Punalur, Alappuzha, and Thiruvananthapuram will continue to observe good rains during the next 24 hours.
