Other areas to have received good rains included Matheran 81 mm, Alibag 79 mm, Bhira 74 mm, Mumbai 64 mm, Honavar 43.2 mm, Karwar 27 mm, Kannur 16 mm and Kozhikode 9 mm.

These rains have been attributed to the presence of the off shore trough along the West Coast running from Gujarat up to Kerala coast. However, the effect of the weather system is likely to be lesser on the Kerala side during the next 24 hours as well.

Thus, as per weathermen at Skymet Weather, Monsoon showers are expected to be between moderate to heavy over Coastal Karnataka and Konkan while they will be of lesser intensity over Kerala.
