Good weather to continue over the hills of North India

August 27, 2015 12:50 PM |

Good weather to continue over the hills of North IndiaSince the past few days, the hills of North India have been observing good weather conditions. Both Jammu and Kashmir along with Himachal Pradesh have been witnessing sunny days and slightly chilly nights. The situation is expected to remain the same for at least the next few days.

Usually, during the month of August and September normal rains continue over the region. However, currently the hilly states have been dry since the past few days. The Monsoon trough is running north of its actual position, and very close to the foothills. This has led to dry weather conditions over Himachal Pradesh and Jammu and Kashmir.

Also, the absence of any Western Disturbance and no significant cloud cover over the region has resulted in no significant weather activity. The day temperatures in most parts of Jammu and Kashmir have been above normal. Srinagar recorded a maximum of 31°C on Wednesday. Other tourist spots like Pahalgam and Gulmarg have also been recording above normal maximum temperatures.

Himachal Pradesh has been observing similar weather conditions. The maximum temperature for Shimla soared to a good 25.4°C which is five degrees above normal. Nights in both the states are chilly and the region has been recording normal minimum temperatures.

The region is likely to experience dry weather conditions for the next few days as the axis of the Monsoon trough will remain close to the foothills. In case of weather activity, if any, light rain in patches will be observed. However, it is not likely to affect the temperatures. This weekend is the best time for tourists to plan a trip to the hilly states of North India.
