Heat wave in Gujarat, scorching weather in Rajasthan and Maharashtra

Heat in GujaratGujarat, west Rajasthan and Maharashtra are the hottest regions in India at present. With maximums crossing 40°C in most parts of these states, afternoon hours have become scorching and extremely uncomfortable.

Weather in Gujarat

Northern parts of Gujarat are witnessing heat wave conditions with temperatures about 4°C above normal in Bhuj (44.2°C), Amreli (43.6°C) and Rajkot (43.8°C). Ahmedabad has also crossed the 40-degree mark and recorded 42.5°C as maximum on Friday.

Weather in Rajasthan and Maharashtra

People in Vidarbha and Rajasthan are also reeling under severe hot weather conditions. In the absence of any significant weather, maximum temperatures in both the states are settling above normal by a couple of notches.

In Rajasthan, Chittorgarh recorded 43°C as maximum, which is 3°C above normal. The mercury has risen above 40°C in Churu, Jaisalmer and Jaipur as well.

Temperatures are also rising by the day in several places in Maharashtra. With maximum around 45°C, Chandrapur has been acquiring the first position in Skymet’s top ten hottest places for the last couple of days.

On Friday, Akola recorded 42.8°C  as maximum, Amravati 42.8 as well, Bhira 41°C and Buldhana 40.3°C. Malegaon witnessed heat wave-like condition and was 3°C above normal at 43.8°C. Nagpur is also sizzling under extreme heat with maximums around 44°C.

Hot and dry northwesterly winds blowing in these areas are responsible for the rising temperatures. There will be no relief from the sweltering heat at least next 3 to 4 days.
