The temperatures over all parts of Central India are above normal and at most places have already crossed 40 degrees Celsius.

On Monday, Chandrapur recorded its maximum temperature at 44.5°C, followed by Bramhapuri 44.3°C, Akola, Bhira and Wardha at 43.0°C, Parbhani 42.9°C, Surendranagar 42.8°C, Amreli 42°C, Idar 41.6°C.

At present, westerly/northwesterly winds are seen blowing over Gujarat. These winds are blowing from the Sindh province in Pakistan wherein the temperatures are already high. Thus, these winds would in turn lead to a further rise in the maximums.

Meanwhile, Madhya Pradesh and Maharashtra are witnessing northerly/northwesterly winds. In addition, the winds from Gujarat region would further travel towards the central parts of the country which would mount the daytime high.

Therefore, we can say that further rise in temperatures is expected over all these areas.

Moreover, conditions are favorable for heatwave to develop in parts of East Gujarat and Vidarbha. Along with this, parts of southeast Madhya Pradesh and Southwest Rajasthan may also witness heatwave conditions.

Furthermore, a possibility of hot day condition is expected over parts of Chandrapur and Bramhapuri.

As moisture laden winds are also coming from Bay of Bengal in East Vidarbha, there are possibility of thunder cloud development or thunderstorm activity to develop towards late afternoon at few pockets of Vidarbha. Generally, these will be associated with strong winds as well.
