Heatwave to grip parts of Madhya Pradesh, Chhattisgarh; no relief in sight

Madhya-pradesh weather

Pre Monsoon rains have made an appearance over Madhya Pradesh and Chhattisgarh during the month of April quite a few times. However, the weather across both these states is dry for the past two days. During this time of the year, pre Monsoon rains make frequent appearances, but when a prolonged dry spell occurs the temperatures tend to rise. Therefore, in wake of the complete dry weather, the temperatures over most parts of these states have increased significantly.

The increase was so much that the temperatures have crossed 40°C mark at many places. As on April 18, Khajuraho witnessed day temperature to the tune of 44°C and Hoshangabad 43°C. Although, heatwave has yet not gripped both the states still the weather is extremely hot and uneasy.

As per weathermen at Skymet Weather, further increase in day temperatures is expected due to the absence of any weather activity. With this, clear sky conditions and hot westerly-northwesterly winds would continue to flow across the state. In fact, with further increase in day maximums heatwave may grip parts of Madhya Pradesh and Chhattisgarh during the next few days.

However, there may be a marginal relief over parts of Southeast Madhya Pradesh and South Chhattisgarh around April 23 or April 24 as Skymet Weather is anticipating thundershowers or light rain during that time. Until then, temperatures are likely to settle above normal level leading to uneasy and hot weather.
