Pre-Monsoon activities marked their beginning over Northwest India on Saturday. Isolated parts of North Rajasthan, Delhi, South Haryana and Southwest Uttar Pradesh observed dust storm and light thundershower activities during the last 24 hours.

In the last 24 hours from 08:30 am on Saturday, Churu recorded very light rain to the tune of 2 mm, followed by Aligarh at 0.8 mm and Delhi’s Safdarjung Observatory at 0.3 mm.

These weather activities were attributed to the Western Disturbance moving across the hills of North India, which had also induced a cyclonic circulation over the plains. Now, since the weather systems are moving away, weather conditions will improve over the northwestern plains. In the next 36 hours, the surface wind will increase over the region.

However, in the wake of above weather system, night temperatures will decrease and day temperatures will be increase marginally during the next 24 hours. Thereafter, both temperatures will be increasing steadily.

Moreover, by the end of this week, around April 5 and 6, we expect maximum temperatures over parts of Northwest India to settle between 40˚C and 42˚C. As the weather conditions will remain mainly dry with bright sunshine and clear sky, pollution levels would also increase marginally.

We also expect few places like Churu, Bikaner, Sikar, Bhiwani, Narnaul, Delhi and Gurugram to observe heatwave like conditions during the coming week. Heatwave conditions take places when maximum temperature settle above 40˚C and are above normal average by 6˚C to 7˚C.
