On and off pre-Monsoon rains has been battering parts of Odisha. However, with the onset of Monsoon, some heavy rains have been splashing the state. Last 25 hours saw some exceptionally good rainfall accompanied with squally winds and lightning. In fact, few pockets such as Paradeep has recorded extremely heavy rainfall to the tune of 100 mm of rain.
All thanks to the cyclonic circulation persisting over South Coastal Odisha and adjoining Andhra Pradesh. Due to this, moderate to heavy showers occurred over many parts of coastal Odisha along with neighbouring state of Andhra Pradesh.
In the last 24 hours from 8.30 am on Wednesday, Paradeep recorded 100 mm rainfall, Cuttack 34.4 mm, Bubhneshwar 30 mm, Puri 10.2 mm and Chandbali 6.4 mm.

As per Skymet weather report, we expect moderate rains with one or two heavy spells to continue over the coast of Odisha for the next 24 hours. Thereafter, the intensity of rains will reduce significantly as the cyclonic circulation will get weaken and the trough from this system which is running across the East coast will oscillate towards east in Bay of Bengal.

Monsoon has covered parts of Odisha and with these rains, there are chances of Monsoon to cover the remaining parts in the next 24 to 48 hours.
At present till June 14, Odisha is rain deficit by 23% but these rainfall activities may reduce the deficit to some extent.
Weather across the state is likely to stay warm during the day as temperatures will continue to remain between 35-37°C.
