Heavy Monsoon rains in Udaipur, Kota, Bundi, Ajmer, Barmer, light in Jaipur

Rain in RajasthanSouthwest Monsoon continues to remain vigorous over the southern parts of Rajasthan. In fact, for the last many days, the region has been witnessing heavy to very heavy rains, leading to flood like situation.

The only hill station of Rajasthan, Mount Abu was the worst affected as the city recorded heavy to very heavy rains. Three-digit rains lashed the region on a continuous basis. However, rains have reduced over Mount Abu significantly.

Other areas of Rajasthan also witnessed moderate to heavy showers during this time period. In fact, the last 24 hours were also rainy enough for some parts of Rajasthan.

In a span of 24 hours from 8:30 am on Thursday, Pali recorded a whopping 60 mm of rain followed by Erinpura which also recorded similar rains. Other areas to have recorded good rains include Jalore 50 mm, Jaisalmer 27.4 mm, Chittorgarh 27 mm, Bhilwara 11.4 mm, Barmer 1.8 mm, Bikaner 0.2 mm, Jaipur 2mm, Jodhpur 6.2 mm, Mount Abu 12.8 mm, and Udaipur 7.8 mm.

Moderate to heavy showers are likely to continue over many parts of Rajasthan including Udaipur, Kota, Bundi, Ajmer, Jalore, Barmer during the next 24 hours. These weather conditions will be attributed to two weather systems, one of them being a cyclonic circulation over Central Rajasthan and another being a well marked low over Northwest Madhya Pradesh.

According to weathermen, moderate to heavy rain and thundershower are likely at many places over Ajmer, Banswara, Baran, Bhilwara, Bundi, Chittaurgarh, Dungarpur, Jalor, Jhalawar, Jodhpur, Kota, Nagaur, Pali, Pratapgarh, Rajsamand, Sawai Madhopur, Sirohi, Tonk, Udaipur and Mount Abu districts of Rajasthan.

While South and Southeast Rajasthan will record good showers, other areas will witness scattered rainfall activity during the next 24 hours. However, state capital of Jaipur will witness light rains only.
