June begins on a rainy note in Mumbai, Monsoon coming soon

Mumbai rains have been playing games with the city for quite some time now. While the city has witnessed a few spells of rain in between, those typical showers from the maximum city seem to be missing. The last time the city recorded very heavy rains was on June 12 to the tune of 71 mm.

These rains have been attributed to the presence of a cyclonic circulation which is currently over the Gujarat region. Along with this, the off shore trough along the West Coast has also become activated. Thus, more showers are in the offing for the city of Mumbai. In fact, Mumbai rains have begun even now.

As per weathermen at Skymet, Mumbai rains are expected to intensify during the next 24 to 48 hours and the residents of the city of dreams will enjoy those rainy spells during the long weekend period. People who have taken an extended trip to the nearby areas of Lonavala, and Mahabaleshwar have also been welcomed by those droplets of Monsoon rains.
