Heavy rain lashes Madhya Pradesh and Chhattisgarh, Gujarat in line of fire

July 25, 2021 1:36 PM |

Eastern part of Madhya Pradesh has been receiving good rain since last many days. Rain over Chhattisgarh was patchy. Most parts of Saurashtra and Kutch, Rajasthan and West MP were almost dry with occasional showers. Crops were on the verge of collapse. Irrigation facilities over easy areas are not enough to sustain the crops.

A low pressure developed over Bay of Bengal and moved inland over Chhattisgarh as a well-marked low-pressure area. On July 23rd, it led to heavy with few very heavy spells occurred over many parts of Chhattisgarh and Madhya Pradesh. These heavy showers gave much-needed relief to farmers.

Now the low-pressure area is over Northeast Madhya Pradesh, and during last 24 hours, moderate to heavy rain occurred over most parts of Madhya Pradesh as well as over parts of South Rajasthan and Gujarat. Western part of Madhya Pradesh will continue to get moderate to heavy rain for another 24 to 48 hours. Rain activities will also be intense over northern and Eastern parts of Madhya Pradesh. Southeast and South Rajasthan as well as parts of Gujarat may also receive good rain.

In fact, northern districts of Gujarat such as Mahesana, Sabarkantha, Banaskantha, Idar, Deesa, Patan, Bhuj and Naliya are facing drought like condition. These upcoming rains will certainly boost up the spirit of farmers and dying crops will get a new lease of life.

West Rajasthan may not receive enough rain. But month of August and September seems to be much better than July therefore, skymet is optimistic that Rajasthan, Gujarat and western districts of Madhya Pradesh will get sufficient amount of rainfall next month.
