The first strong Western disturbance of the season is affecting Western Himalayas. Moderate to heavy rain and snowfall is going on over Jammu Kashmir, Gilgit Baltistan, Muzaffarabad and parts of Ladakh. Rain and snow is expected over Himachal Pradesh as well in moderate intensity. However, Uttarakhand will receive patchy light rain.
Western disturbance has induced a cyclonic circulation over Central Pakistan and adjoining parts of Punjab. Moreover, humid winds from Arabian Sea are also feeding moisture over northern plains. Moderate to heavy rain and thunder showers activities are expected over northern and western parts of Punjab on October 23rd. Districts such as Amritsar, Pathankot, Gurdaspur, Tarn Taran, Firozpur, Bathinda, Fazalika and Muktsar may receive heavy downpour. Remaining parts of Punjab may receive light rain with one or two moderate spells.
Light to moderate rain is also possible over Haryana and western part of Rajasthan. Delhi may receive isolated light rain on October 23rd and 24.
Western disturbance will move away by October 25th. And northwesterly or northerly cold winds from snow clad mountains will commence over northern plains leading to drop in minimum temperatures. Stubble burning over Punjab and Haryana may also stop for next two days. This will help in bringing down the pollution level over Delhi and NCR and adjoining Indo Gangetic plains.
