Rain-in-Rajasthan

Good rains did not occur over Rajasthan especially in the initial days of July as Southwest Monsoon had not covered the entire state. Only a few parts of the state witnessed good rains. However, since a few days due to the arrival of Southwest Monsoon across the state many regions have been witnessing good rains of moderate to heavy intensity.

In the span of 24 hours from 08:30 am on Saturday, Mount Abu recorded a whopping 141 mm of rains, Erinpura 130 mm, Bundi 83 mm, Chhittorgarh 79 mm, Jodhpur 72 mm, Bhilwara 41 mm and Jaipur recorded 19 mm of rains.

As per Skymet Weather, the reason for these moderate to heavy showers can be attributed to the low-pressure area which was over Southeast Rajasthan and adjoining areas. Due to this weather system, rains have mostly occurred over parts of East Rajasthan. In addition, with this weather system an axis of Monsoon trough also passing through Jaisalmer, center of Low pressure area, Sidhi, Bankura, Canning, and is moving east south eastwards to northeast Bay of Bengal.

Due to the persistence of both the weather systems, East and South Rajasthan will continue witnessing moderate to heavy rains with few isolated heavy to very heavy rains. Thus, districts such as Udaipur, Chittorgarh, Bhilwara, Jalore, Sirohi, Pratapgarh, Barmer will continue with isolated heavy showers, while light rains are likely to continue over the capital city Jaipur and Bikaner.
