The depression over Southwest Madhya Pradesh, adjoining Gujarat and North Madhya Maharashtra has been responsible for giving some heavy to extremely heavy rains over most parts of Central India.

As of now, the system has weakened into a well-marked low-pressure area and is lying over Southwest Madhya Pradesh and adjoining areas. This system started its westward journey, causing some extremely heavy rains over Maharashtra and parts of Madhya Maharashtra. Under its influence, moderate to heavy rains were also recorded over southeast Rajasthan with scattered showers over remaining parts of South Rajasthan.

In the last 24 hours, from 08:30 am on Thursday, Kota recorded 27 mm of rains, Bhilwara 21 mm, Pali 16 mm, Erinpura 16 mm, Mount Abu 11 mm, Barmer 7 mm, Jaipur 7 mm, and Sikar recorded 2 mm of rains.

As of now, the system is likely to move further west-northwestwards and hence, we expect rains to increase over southeast Rajasthan that can witness moderate to heavy spells. Moreover, light to moderate rains is also expected over remaining parts of East Rajasthan and few districts of central Rajasthan.

Districts like Kota, Sawai Madhopur, Bundi, Jhalawar, Pratapgarh, Banswada, Udaipur, Rajsaman, Bhilwara, Tonk, and Ajmer are likely to witness these rains.  Jaipur, Nagaur, Pali, and Sikar may experience scattered showers.

On the other hand, the weather of northwest Rajasthan and West Rajasthan would be almost dry.

Rain intensity would decrease after 48 hours due to further weakening of the weather system. However, few spells of on and off rains would still continue with light intensity. One or two moderate showers cannot be ruled out as well.
