As per Skymet weather, a trough is running from Northwest Rajasthan to the Bay of Bengal and a Western Disturbance is persisting over Jammu and Kashmir and adjoining areas. Moderate easterly winds from the Bay of Bengal are also blowing over the region. High humidity in combination with the weather systems is responsible for these heavy rains.

Punjab is already a rain surplus state. It has largely excess by 96% rains. It is a great sign for the agriculture sector as almost most parts of the state’s income are dependent on it. It will be of great help for the sowing of Kharif crop.
