Heavy showers lash Kedarnarth and Pithoragarh, rains to now increase in Uttarkashi

Rain in Kedarnath

At present, the state of Uttarakhand is experiencing active Monsoon conditions. In the last 24 hours, good rains have lashed many parts of the state. And a similar condition is likely for another 24 hours.

The reason for these rains can be attributed to the Cyclonic Circulation over Punjab. A Western Disturbance is also passing through North India. Moreover, humid winds from the Bay of Bengal are feeding moisture.

Due to the combined effect of these systems, many areas of Uttarakhand have already recorded heavy rains. Places such as Pithoragarh, Almora, Kausani, and Munsyari were the ones to witness heavy downpour. Likewise, heavy showers have lashed Kedarnath, while good rains have been reported in Joshimathand and Badrinath in the past 24 hours.

According to our meteorologists, good rains will continue in Uttarakhand for the next 24 hours. Rains would be comparatively heavier over the south-western parts of the state. Pauri, Uttarkashi and adjoining areas, in particular, will get to see heavy Monsoon rains.

After 24 hours, the rainfall activities would reduce, however, light rains with short breathers in between would continue. Some areas may even witness moderate spells of rain.

Meanwhile, places such as Dehradun, Rishikesh, Haridwar, Haldwani, Rudrapur, Nainital, Gopeshwar, Lansdowne and adjoining areas will see light rains for the next two to three days.

Moreover, good amounts of rain may give rise to landslides in the southwestern areas of the state. Roads may even get closed in the wake of some intense showers. Thus, residents and tourists are advised to take the utmost precautions while traveling towards the state.
