During the last four to five days, the state of Gujarat has been experiencing extremely hot and dry weather conditions with temperatures crossing 40° mark over most places. On October 7, Bhuj in Gujarat recorded its maximum temperature at 42.2°C, Naliya 40.8°C, Kandla 40.7°C while Surendranagar recorded 40° C. There is no questioning why this season is also named as ‘second summer’ for the state.

Presently, an Anti-Cyclonic circulation is persisting over Southeast Rajasthan and adjoining parts of West Madhya Pradesh. Due to this system, dry and warm winds are blowing over the entire state of Gujarat. Hence, temperatures have also increased.

Over the Kutch region, the maximum temperatures are between 40°C to 42° C while other parts of the state are experiencing 37°C to 39° C day temperatures. Minimum temperatures over northern parts of Gujarat are between 21°C-23° C. While southern parts are likely to experience 23°C-27° C minimum temperatures.

We do not expect any changes in the prevailing weather conditions for now. The coming week would foresee similar weather patterns with dry and hot conditions. These weather conditions are likely to continue over the state for at least next 2 to 3 days.

The locales of Gujarat are advised to stay prepared with proper arrangements for keeping cooling and hydration to counter such weather.
