Delhi and its neighboring areas of Noida, Faridabad, Ghaziabad and Gurugram remained mostly dry in the past few days. Conversely, the weather has taken a U-turn and many areas received good Monsoon showers during the last 2 days.

In a span of 24 hours from 08:30 am on Wednesday, Safdarjung observatory witnessed a good 38 mm of rainfall, while Palam observatory recorded 23 mm of moderate rains. Other areas also recorded some spells of rain during the same time frame.

Now, the axis of Monsoon trough is running South of Delhi, hence any significant rainfall activity is not expected over Delhi at least for 24 hours. However, southeasterly moist winds may lead to local development of clouds leading to isolated rain over limited areas that too for short duration. The weather will remain warm and humid. Along with this, day maximums will settle around 35 degrees, whereas minimum temperatures near 26-27 degrees.

Short spells of thundershowers are expected to occur over Central, East, New Delhi, North, Northeast, Northwest, Shahdara, South, Southeast, Southwest, West, Faridabad, Gurgaon, Jhajjar, Mewat, Palwal, Sonepat, Baghpat, Gautam Buddha Nagar and Ghaziabad during the next two to four hours.

By next week, around August 27, rains are likely to pace up over Delhi and the NCR region. During this time, intense showers may occur at some places, but then again these showers will not be all over the national capital. These rains can be attributed to the merge of dry northwesterly winds with humid southeasterly winds.
