We by now know that the Monsoon Trough and Monsoon systems which form in the oceans are the main drivers for bringing rains during this time. At present, the axis of Monsoon Trough is passing through and through parts of Uttar Pradesh and is running a little north of the normal position. These systems are conducive for bringing in good rains.
In the past 24 hours, places like Bahraich, Meerut, Sultanpur, Gorakhpur, and Kanpur have recorded 102 mm, 32.2 mm, 22 mm, 34.8 mm, and 11.6 mm of rains, respectively.
The experts have to say that all along the Monsoon Trough there are some active weather centres like small scale circulations in between. These small circulations result in heavy rainfall activities in pockets.
Also, the proximity of the Monsoon Trough especially the eastern half is closer to the foothills than the western end of the Monsoon Trough. Hence, resulting in more and dense rainfall activities over the eastern region mainly over Sultanpur, Gorakhpur, and Varanasi.
Simultaneously, Delhi and the adjoining areas that is West Uttar Pradesh too will witness heavy showers in pockets because of the small-scale closed circulations along the Trough line. Hence, Meerut, Agra, Aligarh, Mathura, and Baghpat are likely to witness moderate to heavy rains for the next 48 hours.
The experts here want to mention that by July 27, the Monsoon Trough will be at a safe distance from these locations and intense rainfall activities will then take a break and only passing showers will be seen.
