Delhi Rainfall

During the last 24 hours, patchy rains were witnessed over Delhi and NCR region. Few short spells of rains were witnessed over isolated regions this morning as well.

Yesterday, however, the day remained warm and very humid with cloudy sky conditions. These weather conditions are prevailing under the influence of a Western Disturbance which is moving across Eastern parts of Jammu and Kashmir. Also, the western end of Axis of Monsoon Trough is passing across Northern parts of Rajasthan which is close to the south of Delhi. Under, these conditions, moist winds are continuously prevailing over Delhi and NCR region. These weather conditions are likely to continue during the next 48 hours.

During the next 24 hours, the day temperatures may decrease slightly due to the presence of extensive clouding. Day temperatures will remain in the range of 33-34 degrees while night temperatures are likely to remain close to 26 to 27 degrees. Intermittent spells of light to moderate rains for short period will be affecting in patches.

Thereafter, on August 5 and 6 the rainfall intensity will be increasing marginally due to approaching of another Western Disturbance and formation of a Cyclonic Circulation from Bay of Bengal.

Despite on and off rains, Delhi is running rain deficient by a total of 30% as of Aug 2.
