Except for showing up in a few parts of North West Bengal, rains have remained absent in the almost the entire state of West Bengal including Kolkata. However, the districts like Bankura and Siliguri have seen rains in the last 5-6 days but rains spared the state capital Kolkata.

Due to this, the maximums have also been settling near the 40-degree mark. In a few districts, the daytime high has even crossed this mark. As per Skymet Weather, a trough is extending from East Bihar to northwest Bay of Bengal across Gangetic West Bengal. In the wake of this, rain and thundershowers are expected to appear in central regions of West Bengal. Gangetic West Bengal including Kolkata also stands a chance to observe some rainy spells thereby breaking the monotonous dry spell.

In the wake of this, rain and thundershowers are expected to appear in central regions of West Bengal. Gangetic West Bengal including Kolkata also stands a chance to observe some rainy spells thereby breaking the monotonous dry spell. However, Skymet Weather reiterates that West Bengal including the capital of the state will observe thunderstorm and cloudy sky on April 27. Thundershowers and thunderstorm activities are expected to cover parts of West Bengal including Kolkata on April 28 and 29.

These showers will though not bring many changes in the prevailing maximums. True to their nature, these pre-Monsoon showers generally show up during the late afternoon or evening hours. And by that time, the temperatures have already risen.

Moreover, the combination of the winds feeding in moisture from the Bay of Bengal and the rising temperatures are resulting in high humidity levels thereby leading to thundercloud buildup. Hence, paving way for rains. Though these rains will be of short duration intense showers covering limited areas of the state. Lightning and strong winds is also a possibility. Thereafter, as the trough will become insignificant, rains will stop pouring over the region.
