Kolkata Rain

Kolkata experiences heavy rainfall activities during the Monsoon season. This is evident from the fact that the average monsoon rain in the city of joy during the August month alone is 345 mm. And so far in this month, Kolkata has surpassed the monthly average to record 543 mm of rain.

According to the rainfall data available with Skymet, Kolkata has again received some showers. In a span of 24 hours from 08:30 am on Thursday, the city has recorded 20 mm of rain.

As predicted by the Weathermen, light to moderate rainfall activities are expected in Kolkata for the next 24 -48 hours. This weather activity will continue in the city and its adjoining areas due to the low-pressure area formed over the Northwest Bay Of Bengal.

But this spell of rain will not be able to help Kolkata in beating the rainfall figure of 679.2 mm observed in August 2013.

Meanwhile, September will also start on a positive note for Kolkata in terms of rain. Looking at the weather models at Skymet, meteorologists forecast some decent amount of rain in the city during this period.
