Koraput, Ganjam, Bhubaneswar, Angul and Bhadrak gear up for more rains

April 21, 2019 2:10 PM |

During the last 24 hours, light rains were witnessed over the multiple places in the of state of Odisha. While the state capital of Bhubaneswar recorded a meagre 0.6mm, Keonjhargarh received 12.2 mm, Bhabanipatna 10.4 mm, Puri 4.2 mm, Pulbani 3.2 mm, Angul 3 mm, Balasore 3.3 mm, Chandbali 1.5 mm and Jharsuguda recorded 2.3 mm of rains.

At present the state is observing a warm and humid weather conditions as these showers were recorded during late afternoon or evening hours. Thus, did not have any impact on the day temperatures.

All these weather conditions are occurring due to incursion of warm and moist winds from Bay of Bengal due to the presence of an Anti-Cyclonic Circulation over West Central Bay of Bengal. Simultaneously, an upper air trough is also extending from Jharkhand to Odisha.

Due to the presence of these systems, light to moderate rain and thundershower activities are likely to continue over some places during the next 24 to 36 hours.

During the next 24 hours, the southern parts of Odisha are set to receive moderate rain and thundershower activities associated with strong gusty winds. Places like Koraput, Malkangiri, Rayagada and Ganjam may experience these rains, while Bhubaneswar, Angul, Nabarangpur and Bhadrak may experience light spells of rain and thundershower.

Thereafter as these pre- Monsoon systems weaken, the rain intensity will also decrease.
