Kota witnesses heavy Monsoon rains

Rain in KotaHeavy Monsoon showers lashed Kota, with city recording whopping 107 mm of rain during the span of 24 hours from 8:30 am on Sunday. This has been the second highest rainfall recorded during 24 hours in the month of August since 2005.

According to Skymet Meteorology Division in India, merging of southwesterly winds from Arabian Sea with westerlies from Pakistan and South Rajasthan led to formation of connective clouds over the region, which resulted in heavy showers.

As per the forecast, light to good showers are expected to continue over the city for next 24 to 48 hours as well.

With this recent spell, Kota in East Rajasthan has so far received 114.5 mm of rain against the monthly average of 224.4 mm of rain. July has also fared well for the city, wherein it recorded 378.4 mm of rain against 279.8 mm.

Not only this, but the entire state- Rajasthan- has been doing extremely well during this Monsoon season. As on August 10, West Rajasthan is rain surplus by 88 per cent and East Rajasthan by 18 per cent.

East Rajasthan has been receiving rainfall during the last three days with varying intensity. While, West Rajasthan has recorded least weather activity during last few days.
