Kota records maiden spell of heavy Monsoon rains

July 9, 2016 9:02 AM |

Kota has finally recorded its first spell of heavy Monsoon rains that has been missing ever since the arrival of the Southwest Monsoon over Rajasthan. In span of 24 hours from 8:30 am on Friday, the city has recorded 63 mm of rain.

This is also the maiden spell of July that has been practically dry so far.

According to Skymet Weather, these rains can be attributed to the westward movement of the low pressure area over Madhya Pradesh. This system is now also influencing the weather over the parts of East Rajasthan and West Madhya Pradesh.

Further, with this system likely to linger upon the region for some more time, we expect more rains in offing during the next 24-48 hours over Kota as well as other parts of East Rajasthan.

With these rains, maximum temperature is likely to take a dip, which is presently settling above normal in high 30s. Similarly, night temperatures will also show a decreasing trend and settle in high 20s.

East Rajasthan shares its borders with Madhya Pradesh, which is currently witnessing heavy Monsoon activity. And with another system approaching Madhya Pradesh, we expect on and off rains will now continue over adjoining parts of Rajasthan for the next few days also.
