In the last 24 hours from 8.30 am on Tuesday, Thiruvananthapuram witnessed rains to the tune of 6.8 mm, Kochi 2 mm, Kannur 1.2 mm, Alappuzha 0.9 mm and Kozhikode 0.1 mm of rain.

The four-month long Southwest Monsoon season has come to an end and Kerala closed with 9 percent of rain deficiency.

Presently, the post Monsoon season has begun and as on October 3, Kerala is rain surplus by 12 percent. At present, a cyclonic circulation is persisting over the northern parts of Coastal Kerala and adjoining Coastal Karnataka.

Due to this weather system, we expect rains to continue over Kerala but the intensity will be less over Palakkad, Ernakulam, Kottayam, Kolam, Thiruvananthapuram, Kochi and Alappuzha. However, Kasaragod, Kannur, and Kozhikode may record good showers as well.

The weather is likely to remain warm and humid over the interior parts of the region but uneasy conditions will not prevail. The maximum temperatures will settle around 33°C-34°C. The coastal belt of the state is likely to witness pleasant weather as the rainfall activity is more in comparison to the other parts.
